Dogs Enjoy Afternoon Reading!

Dogs Enjoy Afternoon Reading (DEAR) is a free program for young and tentative readers.

• Each child reads at their own pace to one or more of our therapy dogs. Parents, guardians, and siblings are welcome to read to novice readers.

• No registration is necessary. Just check in with the library staff member at the event to get on the list. We will have a selection of books on hand to read or you can bring your own.

• Each dog is accompanied by a handler to form a therapy team. Our handlers are with the dogs at all times to ensure a safe and calm environment for everyone. All of our teams undergo a background-check and are tested, registered, and insured through a nationally recognized program.

Join us at either of our two locations! 

• Longmont Public Library from 2-3:00PM on the second Sunday of every month.

• Lyons Community Library from 5-6:00PM on the third Thursday of every month.
